I'll be honest. I'm a bad blogger. Over the years, I have made so many promises to myself and to you, my readers, that I would be better about posting, but the thing is, I'm just not a blogger. I'm usually self absorbed in one or more projects, that when I take a breather from them I don't have the energy to sit down in front of my laptop and write what's on my mind. Things really took a nosedive when I started writing Going Raw and since I'm out of the blogging habit, it's just gotten worse. I feel bad and I'm sorry. I get sad when my favorite blogs go on hiatus. (Gliving, We Like It Raw). I don't know how people have the time to write so much while living busy lives. Kudos to you Gena at Choosing Raw who is in med school, counseling clients AND making recipes and to the busy moms, Kristen's Raw, PURE mamas and Simple Life Journey. Ladies, please share with me your blogging/social media secrets.
But at the least, I can do this much. I can give monthly updates and will try to tweet more (I've gotten a little better at this) and update the Facebook page more often. I've got plenty of good intentions but I will stop here and under promise and over deliver. Deal?
So here's the latest news:
Going Raw is doing amazingly well. It's gotten great reviews and is currently on back order. New (updated!) copies will be in stock middle of September.
I just got back a few days ago from the Hot Chefs, Cool Kitchen showcase which will be available online in two days. Click here to get access to 80 delicious recipes and 24 food prep videos from some of the hottest raw food chefs out there!
I have a Raw Food 101 class in Long Beach, CA on Sept. 11th from 1-4pm. If you know of anyone who needs help getting started, send them my way. I show how to do the basics easily and deliciously. It'll be very informative and will give you a chance to ask all your pressing raw health questions. P.S. classes make great gifts!
I am doing tons of recipe development for book #2. Hoping to hunker down and put it all together early next year.
I am in pre-production for a TV pilot. Yes, another raw food chef trying to get a TV show. This one is different than the usual "stand and stir" but that's about all I can reveal for now. Wish me luck!!
I am doing one-on-one health counseling (via phone) for women who are looking to lose weight, gain energy and recapture that youthful radiance. I offer a free initial consultation to talk about your health concerns and goals. I only have time for a few more clients so if you're interested, please get in touch soon. Check out my health coaching website for more information about my program.
That's about it for now. Lots more stuff on deck but I'll save it for another post.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!!
xoxo

wow, your own tv show? very exciting!
just checked gliving and it seems to be still up!
I love your book and was inspired to learn more about raw food preparation and nutrition in general. I just started at IIN and I see you got your certification there too. I'd love to see a raw food chef on TV so best of luck to you!
Thanks, Ladies! :)
P.S. Bitt, the Gliving site hasn't been updated in months. The date changes and the posts rotate but last I heard they were taking a break and revamping the whole Gliving platform.
Yay, Judita! Social Media is a beast that's hard to keep up with but you're doing great, and if you ever wanna hire someone to help you *wink wink* it's my speciality. :) So excited to hear about this TV pilot. I've said it before--you should for sure have you're own show. If I had a network, you'd be on it!
Thank you for the update! I am really enjoying your book and would support your t.v. show and a second book. I really wanted to come to the Long Beach class but I have family visiting from out-of-town. Hopefully you'll have another class in SoCal soon.
Hi Judita, I hope it's not inappropriate to ask this question here, but I thought it might be the best way to contact you.
I need help using raw oat groats in your chocolate chip scones recipe! I soaked some day before yesterday, rinsed lightly and drained, made the recipe, put them in the dehydrator, and they filled the room with an awful smell! They tasted very bitter and soapy; had to throw them all out.
Tried again today, but this time, after soaking for 11 hours, I rinsed them like crazy for almost 10 minutes. They're in the dehydrator now, and the same awful smell is in the air. I just now tasted one, and they have that same nasty, soapy flavor. Another batch I have to throw away.
They LOOK so good, and your description sounds so good, what am I doing wrong? The oat groats I'm using are very fresh, labeled "raw and sproutable", Legacy brand.
Am I doomed to never be able to use oat groats in a recipe?
If you could offer some advice or a solution, I'd be *extremely* grateful! Thank you!
Ronn, that is so strange. I think you might have a bad batch of oat groats. I use Arrowhead Mills usually but I've also gotten whole oat groats from the bulk bins at Whole Foods and other health food stores. Try it again with another brand and see. Taste the groats after you soak them before you make the recipe. They shouldn't taste off. Also taste your dates and other other ingredients too just to make sure they're not the culprit. Good luck!!
I just now saw this. How sweet of you to mention PUREmamas.
I swear Judita, I most definitely DO NOT have time for my blog.
I always feel so in a rush and my posts have been sort of showing that lately.
I just basically write down all that i do and take a photo when I can. And then post.
Anyways, SO SO awesome you're doing this cleanse. I could barely do 3 days last month.
;) Keep it up. I'm cheering for you.
As far as my social media secrets go, I just am fast at it. That's my only secret. I have been kind of a computer dork my whole adult life. So, it's really easy for me to be FAST at it. If it took me a long time, I don't know if I would ever have time for it because I already don't feel like I do! You know?
Anyways, love the new look of your blog. And good luck with your juice fast.
